Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, with the purpose of raising awareness and as a result encouraging us to take care of our planet. As well as to create a sustainable future for this generation, and the next.
When Is Earth Day Celebrated
Earth Day is celebrated globally on the 22nd of April each year. For the past 53 years it has been a reminder of everyone’s responsibility to the environment and working together to protect it.
Today, Earth Day is celebrated annually all around the world, creating awareness and educating others about the importance of preserving our natural resources.
What Is the Theme For Earth Day 2023
The theme EarthDay.org has chosen for Earth Day 2023 is “Invest in Our Planet”. The aim of this year’s theme is to encourage everyone to invest in a green future. In fact, human influence is the main cause of global warming and we all need to be held accountable and redirect our attention to restoring our planet.
“Invest in our Planet” is reminder that we all need to work together and do our part to make a difference.
How Can I Get Involved
As mentioned, we all need to be held accountable and do our part today, for a better tomorrow. In fact, there are many ways you can get involved in Earth Day 2023.
Think Globally, Act Locally
Although this is an issue faced worldwide, we unfortunately cannot single-handedly change the world. However, you can make a difference in your own neighbourhood.
- Plant Trees
- Clean Up Water Sources
- Pick up Trash in Your Neighbourhood or Local Park
- Attend a Clean Up
Spread Awareness
Spreading awareness is the best way to encourage those around you to get involved and be a part of a bigger change.
- Hand Out Flyers and Educational Materials
- Share and Post on Social Media
- Educate Others on The Importance of Preserving our Planet
Change Starts at Home
Before you can educate others, you need to ensure you are doing your part in your own home.
- Learn about Composting and Recycling
- Stop using Pesticides and Chemical Products in Your Garden
- Conserve Water
- Buy Eco-Friendly Products
Invest in YOUR Planet Today
There are tons of other ways you can contribute to a green future, not only on Earth Day, but every other day going forward. Even by simply recycling your trash or raising awareness in your community brings us one step closer to restoring our home.
Be the change today and encourage others to do the same.
